People were packed in the grocery store, rushing around getting items for their celebrations and it seemed everyone was grumpy. Ok time for an act of change.
I ended up enrolling everyone in my long long check out line into joy. Had them share what they were grateful for on this day of Independence. Soon there was laughter, connection and joy. The lines on either sides of us began to join in and soon people were letting the elderly and folks with kids cut in front of them.
As I pushed my cart out of the store and glanced back at strangers sharing with strangers I thought to myself, how easy was that! If we all took just a second to connect to the humans near us with joy, it would create such a ripple effect! Happy Independence Day!
