Sometimes things take longer than you thought they would or they may be harder. How you handle this will either set you up for success or for failure. It is times like these that most people would give up or change their minds about wanting that certain outcome.
I see this with my clients when they first come to me. They get frustrated when things don’t go the way they imagined so they give up on it. Or they struggle with it and become stuck.
Dr. Denis Waitley said: “There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.”
If it is something you want and it is harder than you thought, you need to remind yourself why you are doing this in the first place. What was your inspiration or need to do this? Go back to the beginning, the “why” you are doing this. Connect again with that passion and desire you had when you first started the project.
Since it is taking longer or it is harder, take a look at why that is happening. A lot of times this happens because there were more steps to the project than you thought or that each step takes more time. This is the time to re-evaluate your steps. Do you need to break down some of the steps into smaller pieces? Do you need to allot more time for each step?
Setting yourself up for success means that sometimes you need to stop and re-evaluate the way you are going about it. Stop and reconnect with the reason you are doing it in the first place. Break your project down into doable steps that will propel you forward at a steady pace.
