Magic Thinking

“Why does it never work out for me? I am doing all the right things and trying to stay positive.” I hear this often from clients. They then will go into a long story about all of the different steps they have gone through to get what they want. What most of them have in common is that they expect positive thinking to be like a magic wand and poof… they get their hearts desires. It just does not work that way.

Positive thinking is important, but doing the inner work is what makes it well, work. If you don’t heal your old wounds, patterns or behaviors you will get the same results time and time again. I have watched my clients try different methods to move forward: meditation, angel card readings, energy work, visualization, vision boards, journaling, classes, workshops and many other ways.

The one constant with many is that they do not stick to one thing for very long. They try it out for a bit and get frustrated when they don’t get what they want and then jump to another form. Many believe that the law of attraction is about thinking it to be so and it happens. It is about setting the attention on what you want but also about taking the steps to get you there.

Instead of wishing your goal would come to you, you need to walk towards your goal. Look at your past patterns and behaviors, are there ways you sabotage yourself as you near your goal? Are you consistent? Do you have a plan of action and follow it? Stop wishing and being frustrated and start going towards what you desire with a plan.
